"Scientists Discover New Herpes Virus in Bats That Could Infect Humans"

Researchers from the Icahn School of Medicine and J. Craig Venter Institute found a new herpes virus while studying cells taken from the wing of an adult bat. “A big question is why bats are repeatedly associated with infections that transfer to humans,” said Christopher Basler, PhD, a professor of microbiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. “We have very few tools to study bats’ immune response to viruses.” Learn more.
