Becker's Hospital Review - "CEO Dr. Kenneth Davis: From Patient to Leader at The Mount Sinai Medical Center

 – July 2, 2012 /Press Release/  ––

Kenneth Davis, MD, serves as president and CEO of The Mount Sinai Medical Center. Under Dr. Davis' tenure, Mount Sinai experienced five years of improved financial performance and higher accountability. As a result, Moody's Investor Service upgraded the hospital's credit rating to A2 in July 2009. In the same year, the hospital was named as one of the nation's top 20 hospitals by U.S. News and World Report. Unfortunately, healthcare finances are an industry-wide problem and financing a high-quality level of medical care is still a great challenge for Mount Sinai. "To compensate for enormous reductions in provider payments and research funding, we have piloted unique and cost-saving programs in coordinated care for chronic disease management, and expanded outreach and in-home care services that have successfully reduced hospital readmissions and admissions to our emergency department," says Dr. Davis.
