Foreword
To build on the success of our New York Times commentaries series, we launched a companion series to promote Mount Sinai’s clinical excellence to the specialist audience. It targets the following trade publications: The Bulletin of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Cardiology News, Cardiology Today, Neurology Today, OBGYN News, Oncology Times, Orthopedics Today, Pediatric News, Psychiatric News, and World Neurosurgery.
The overarching goal of this series is to describe the multidisciplinary and cutting-edge care that we offer all our patients, as well as to highlight our robust bench-to-bedside research agenda. Many of the pieces describe specific patient cases—such as that of a four-year-old girl who was treated by a team of renowned specialists to remove a life-threatening tumor from behind her right eye—and others detail how technology has greatly improved patient care and can help drive down costs. The commentaries that ran in January and February are available to view and download. We will publish additional pieces in the fall.
As we continue both series, we look forward to exploring new topics and expanding aspects of those we have previously covered in order to present readers with the full scope of our clinical expertise, research enterprise, and thought leadership.
We welcome any feedback and suggestions.
