After 60 Years, We’re Still Going . . . and Growing

In 2012, the Department of Volunteer Services celebrated 60 years of service to Mount Sinai Medical Center and the surrounding community.

Owing to the more than 1000 individuals who donate their time–and to Mount Sinai's legacy of volunteerism from its beginnings in the 1880s—our dedicated volunteers have touched and brightened the lives of countless patients, families and employees.

Volunteer placement has grown exponentially within Mount Sinai, with more than 200 placement areas in patient care, research, and education. We continue to grow, creating and supporting  programs and services to meet the evolving needs of the Medical Center, including:

  • Ambassador Program
  • Breast Health Resource Program
  • Care and Respect for the Elderly
  • Music for Healing
  • Pet-Assisted Therapy
  • Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention
  • Surgical Family Waiting Room
  • Varsity Volunteer Corps
  • Woman- to- Woman

It is with great pride that we continue to provide volunteers to assist Mount Sinai in its commitment to excellence in patient care, education, research, and the good health of the community.
