Analysis of genetic data requires competency in statistical genetics. Due to rapid progress in laboratory techniques, the last few years have witnessed a constant influx of new data such as the 3rd generation of genetic markers, the DNA sequence of numerous organisms, gene expression information (transcriptional profiling), and an increasing amount of knowledge about gene function. Statistical geneticists play an essential role in the analysis and the design of genetic studies.

The Genetic Analysis Program will be a key component of IPM-supported research programs. To meet the need for statistical genetics expertise, IPM is developing a Genetic Analysis Program through ongoing faculty recruitment.
