Hal Yee, MD, PhD , Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of the Rice Liver Center Laboratory, UCSF School of Medicine. Dr. Yee is a recognized expert in hepatic stellate biology who was recruited to UCSF from the USC School of Medicine in 2004. At USC he was an active member of their Alcohol Research Center (H. Tsukamoto, PI) and thus is quite familiar with the goals and operations of an alcohol center. His specific interests are in molecular biology of stellate cell function and activation.

Mark Czaja, MD , Professor of Medicine, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Czaja is a longstanding expert in mechanisms of liver cell injury, hepatotoxicity and apoptosis. His specific expertise in TNF signaling and NFkB biology will provide an important perspective on studies of oxidant stress and liver cell injury. As a Senior member of the Albert Einstein Liver Center he too will bring valued experience in assessing the quality and operations of the Center.
