Eric Hollander, M.D., Scientific Director
Dr. Eric Hollander is the Esther and Joseph Klingenstein Professor and Chair of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He is the scientific director of the Center of Excellence for Compulsive and Impulsive Disorders, as well as the director of the Compulsive and Impulsive Disorders Research Program. He also directs the Seaver and New York Autism Center of Excellence. Dr. Hollander is a world-renowned expert in the treatment of these disorders.
Stefano Pallanti, M.D., Ph.D., Strategic Director
Dr. Pallanti Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Florence (IT) and at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine serves on the Scientific Board of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology, the International Advisory board for the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Fourth edition (DSM-IV), and is a member of the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Spectrum workgroup for the DSM-V. Dr. Pallanti has written numerous psychiatric manuals and textbooks, and has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles.
Daphne Simeon, M.D., Clinical Director
Dr. Daphne Simeon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, where she teaches, supervises, and conducts clinical research. She is an expert in the treatment of compulsive and impulsive disorders, and is co-director of the Compulsive and Impulsive Disorders research program. She also directs the Depersonalization and Dissociation Research Program. A graduate of Columbia University medical school, residency, and research fellowship, she has been on the faculty of the Mount Sinai Department of Psychiatry since 1993. She has published many peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and is author of the books Concise Guide to the Anxiety Disorders (with Eric Hollander), Self-Injurious Behaviors: Assessment and Treatment (with Eric Hollander), and Feeling Unreal: Depersonalization and the Loss of Self.
Andrea Allen, Ph.D., Director of Psychological Services
Dr. Andrea Allen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, where she conducts research and teaches and supervises. She is an internationally recognized expert in BDD and other OCD spectrum disorders, is widely published in the treatment of compulsive and impulsive disorders, and is the senior psychologist in Dr. Eric Hollander's Compulsive and Impulsive Disorders research program.
Phillip Seibell, M.D., Attending Psychiatrist
Phillip J. Seibell, M.D. is an attending psychiatrist in the Center of Excellence and Clinical Instructor of Psychiatry at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine. A graduate of the psychiatry residency program at Mount Sinai and of UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Dr. Seibell has an abiding interest in the neurobiology of OCD and the role of serotonin in the induction of repetitive behavior. He has received specialized training in the psychological and biological treatment of obsessive-compulsive and related disorders from the Hollander team and continues to publish peer-reviewed articles with Dr. Hollander on an ongoing basis.
Heather Berlin, Ph.D., M.P.H., Neuropsychologist
Dr. Heather Berlin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry where she also completed an NIMH Postdoctoral Fellowship. She received her doctorate in neuropsychology from the University of Oxford and her Master of Public Health from Harvard University. Dr. Berlin conducts neuropsychological research of patients with compulsive and impulsive disorders and has worked with diverse psychiatric populations in the US and abroad. Dr Berlin teaches and lectures nationally and internationally, has published many peer-reviewed articles, and has written several chapters on impulsive and compulsive disorders.
Holly Hamilton, B.A., Clinical Coordinator
In her role as Clinical Research Coordinator in the Compulsive and Impulsive Disorders Program (CIDP), Holly Hamilton has coordinated numerous research studies, presented research results at scientific conferences, and has published several peer-reviewed papers on compulsive and impulsive disorders. Holly graduated with Highest Honors in Psychology from New York University.
Andrew Aronson, M.D., Department of Psychiatry
Dr. Andrew Aronson is Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Medical Director for Ambulatory Psychiatry Services at the Mount Sinai Medical Center where patients are seen in over 65,000 encounters annually. He is primary program liaison with the Department of Psychiatry.
