Medical Acupuncture

Overview

Acupuncture is an ancient and traditional method of treating medical problems. It originated in China more than 4,000 years ago, and is now used all over the world.

Medical acupuncture is acupuncture that is practiced by our licensed, western-trained physicians. It provides an alternative and traditional means of managing a wide variety of ailments in the context of modern, western medicine.

While acupuncture is often associated with pain control, in the hands of a well-trained practitioner it has much broader applications. Medical acupuncture is a system that can influence the promotion of health and well being, and aid in the treatment of various conditions such as:

  • Joint Pain
  • Lower Back Pain
  • Migraines
  • Nausea
  • Neck Pain
  • Neuralgia
  • Nicotine Dependency
  • Post-Chemotherapy Nausea
  • Post-Menopausal Hot Flashes

Acupuncture is one of the safest treatments in all of medicine. Extremely thin, flexible needles of varying sizes are inserted into certain points of the body. Most people find treatment painless, and often don't even notice the needle insertion. Some patients may benefit from treatment immediately. Usually, therapeutic effects will be felt after three to six treatment sessions. Board certified physicians licensed to practice acupuncture administer acupuncture treatments.
