Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathy Program

Overview

The Mount Sinai Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathy Program is a multidisciplinary program that is a team approach dedicated to patients with this complex and chronic disease.  Our team of heart failure and transplant cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, cardiac imaging experts, arrhythmia specialists, nurse practitioners, transplant and Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) coordinators, and social workers, create an integrated approach that offers the best treatments to this very challenging and demanding patient population.

The management of these patients is comprised of early identification and control of risk factors, and predisposing conditions for heart failure.  The care is a continuum of aggressive medical management, partnered with implantable devices (EP), and then for the advanced patients, they are assessed for ventricular assist devices and heart transplantation.  This approach is carefully integrated with patient education that empowers our patients, improves outcomes and decreases hospitalizations.  Importantly, we offer patients with all stages of the disease novel therapeutics and devices through a strong clinical trials program, supported by NIH funding and industry.
