Services available to patients and their families during a hospital stay include:

Surgical Family Waiting Rooms

A Waiting Room for family and friends of hospitalized surgical patients is available on the 2nd Floor of the Guggenheim Pavilion - West Tower- where staff coordinators act as liaisons between surgeons, other medical staff and families. Information regarding surgical patients is available from Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at (212) 241-7778.

The Ambulatory Surgical Family Waiting Room is located on the 2nd floor of the Center Tower, Guggenheim Pavilion, and can be reached at (212) 241-7778, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Visiting Hours

Visiting Hours are 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily with the following exceptions:
Intensive Care - Hours vary in each unit.
Psychiatry - Hours vary for children, adolescents and adults.
Pediatrics - Visiting time for parents is unlimited.

Patients' Library

Books, audio cassettes, large print and talking books in English and other languages are available and can be delivered to patients by calling (212) 241-6110.

Help for the Hearing and Visually Impaired

Sign language interpreters and Telecommunication Devices for the Deaf (TDD) are available through Language Assistance Program. Call (212) 241-2700 for more information. Large-typed books and talking books with earphones are available through the Patients' Library. The New York State Patients' Bill of Rights is available in Braille and is read in English and Spanish on closed circuit television.

Private Duty Nursing

The Private Duty Nursing office is located in the Klingenstein Pavilion, 6th Floor, Room 638, and is open from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM. For more information, call (212) 241-7383.

Patient Representatives

Patient's Representatives help patients and their families with problems, complaints or concerns about their health care or Mount Sinai services that other staff are unable to resolve. Patient representatives provide information regarding the New York State Health Care Proxy and patients' rights and can answer questions about hospital policy and procedures. Patient representatives for in-patients can be reached at (212) 659-8990. Out-patients may call (212) 241-6848 on weekdays during business hours. At other times, calls will be referred to a nursing administrator.

Self-Pay Policy

The Mount Sinai Hospital offers financial assistance to patients who do not have private insurance and who do not qualify for government programs. Telephone and Television Service

These services can be requested during the admissions process.

Beautician Services

Including hair and nail care, are available by appointment at (212) 241-5570.

Faith-Related Resources

Faith-Related Resources include two Chapels in the Guggenheim Pavilion, West Tower - the Peck Jewish Chapel and the Hatch Interdemoninational Chapel - for meditation and religious services. Chaplains representing all faiths and denominations are available to patients and families and can be reached by telephone.

Notary Services

Notary Services are available at no charge to in-patients, Monday to Friday, from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM by appointment through the Patient Service Center. For more information, call (212) 659-8990.

The Matthew's Mount Sinai School of Medicine Bookstore

Located on the MC level of the East Building at 1425 Madison Avenue, offers popular magazines and best-selling novels in addition to textbooks, medical reference and medical instruments. The shop also carries souvenirs and specialty items with the Mount Sinai logo. It is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM. Mount Sinai Auxiliary Board Gift Shop

The gift shop carries a wide variety of useful and decorative gift items, children's gifts and baby items, is located on the first floor of the Atrium of the Guggenheim Pavilion. The Shop also sells greeting cards, souvenirs, pajamas, jewelry and decorative housewares. It is open Monday through Friday from 9:15 AM to 5:15 PM. The Gift Shop will wrap gifts and deliver them to patient's rooms. It accepts credit cards and will handle phone orders. Phone (212) 241-GIFT.

Plaza Cafeteria

Our cafeteria offers a wide selection of appetizing hot and cold dishes, including Kosher food. The Cafeteria is open from 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and some hours on the weekends as well. It is located on first floor of the Atrium of the Guggenheim Pavilion.

Coffee Stand

The Coffee Stand, serving delicious Starbucks coffee and an assortment of breakfast rolls, is open on Monday through Friday, from 6:45 AM to 4:30 PM in the West Lobby of the Annenberg Building.
