A Multicenter, randomized, open-label, controlled study of the effect of treatment with once weekly Pegasys plus daily Copegus with or without concomitant pioglitazone (Actos) on early viral kinetics in treatment-naive patients with chronic hepatitis C (genotype-1 HCV infection) and insulin resistance
The purpose of this study is to see how well Pegasys, in combination with Copegus, with and without Actos, will work to treat chronic hepatitis C (CHC) and insulin resistance. All of the drugs being administered are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The study itself will last about 77 to 93 weeks and involves up to 16 or 20 study visits to the clinic depending to which study group you are assigned.

You may be eligible to participate if you:
-are a male or female 18 years of age or older
-have never been treated for hepatits C and have insulin resistance
-meet additional criteria
Exclusion
You will not be able to participate if you:
-have hepatitis B
-have received medication for your hepatitis C
-are pregnant or breasfeeding
