Yu-Feng Yvonne Chan, M. D. Attended UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School in Newark and trained in Emergency Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical School and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. She returned to NJMS as an ED attending physician after residency. During her 7 years at University Hospital, Dr. Chan served as the Research Director for the EM residency and medical student EM electives as well as the fieldwork site supervisor for the MD/MPH students. Her primary research interest has been patient stroke education in the ED and has published numerous abstracts and manuscripts in various peer reviewed journals. Dr. Chan received a $250,000 grant from the Health Care Foundation of NJ to establish a Stroke Education Center in the ED waiting room. She presented the results of her 2 year pilot clinical trial on the effectiveness of stroke education in the ED waiting room at the 2008 AHA International Stroke Conference and the ACEP Scientific Assembly. Dr. Chan was also the coinvestigator for UMDNJ's CDC HIV Counseling, Testing, and Referral Services grant.

In January, 2008, Dr. Chan took an EM faculty position at MSSM. Her other current research interests include prehospital normobaric oxygenation in acute ischemic stroke, tele-stroke, and handi-stroke.

Nationally, Dr. Chan was recently elected as Chair of the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine's Neurological Interest Group. She is also an active member of the NY and NJ American Stroke Association Stroke Committees.
