Dr. Zanca serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and Assistant Director for Spinal Cord Injury Research for the Mount Sinai Spinal Cord Injury Model System. Dr. Zanca coordinates data collection for the National Spinal Cord Injury Database and serves as a co-investigator on several spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury-related projects, including two ongoing Practice-Based Evidence (PBE) studies examining the impact of inpatient rehabilitation on spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury outcomes. Dr. Zanca also serves as lead investigator for two subprojects within the Classification and Measurement of Medical Rehabilitation Interventions Disability and Rehabilitation Research Project recently funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research.
Dr. Zanca received her Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Science and Master of Physical Therapy degree from the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh, where her research activities focused on pressure ulcer prevention and improving early detection of pressure damage in individuals at risk for pressure ulcers.
