A leader in the field of Minimally Invasive Vein Surgery (MIVS), he is the director of The Center for Vein Disease at Mount Sinai Hospital and Englewood Hospital NJ. His general surgical training was at the State University at Buffalo, where he was involved in early trials of axillary vein valve transplants and vein disease. His Vascular Fellowship training was at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.
His clinical trial expertise involves the performance and teaching of minimally invasive vein surgery including: Subfascial Endoscopic Perforator Surgery (SEPS), Transilluminated Powered Phlebectomy (TriVex), Laser and Radiofrequency Saphenous Vein Ablation (EVLT and Closure) and Percutaneous Vein Valve Bioprosthesis (PVVB). He has been utilizing many of these techniques since the mid 1990's. Dr. Elias has lectured, taught and published about all of the above minimally invasive modalities.
