Dr. Tsaousides is an instructor at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and a licensed psychologist in the state of New York.  He specializes in neuropsychological assessments, cognitive remediation, and psychotherapy for a range of cognitive and emotional difficulties.  Dr. Tsaousides employs evidence-based, innovative goal-oriented treatment approaches to enhance cognitive and emotional functioning, and to improve self-awareness and interpersonal skills.

Dr. Tsaousides is a co-investigator in the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Traumatic Brain Injury Interventions, the Mount Sinai Injury Control Research Center, and the Disability Rehabilitation Research Project on Classification of Rehabilitation Interventions. 

Dr. Tsaousides received his doctorate in counseling psychology at the University at Albany, State University of New York, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology and rehabilitation research at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

Research

Dr. Tsaousides is involved in research focused on improving cognitive and psychosocial functioning following traumatic brain injury (TBI).  He is currently involved in a variety of clinical trials, among which are:

  • A psychotherapy study for post-TBI depression
  • Day treatment cognitive rehabilitation program following TBI
  • Validating a brain injury screening instrument
  • Developing a measure to assess the needs of individuals with TBI
  • A study on the effects of exercise on mood, cognitive, and fatigue following TBI
  • Vocational outcomes after TBI
