Dr. Fischer serves The Mount Sinai Medical Center as the Director of Pacemaker and Defibrillator Therapy within the Electrophysiology section of the Zena and Michael A. Wiener Cardiovascular Institute and the Marie-Jos?e and Henry R. Kravis Center for Cardiovascular Health. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Directs the Cardiology Elective for medical students at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
Dr. Fischer trained in Cardiology at Mt. Sinai Medical Center and then went to The Brigham and Women??s Hospital in Boston, for advanced training in Cardiac Electrophysiology. He has extensive experience implanting and caring for patients with devices. While in Boston, he trained with one of the leaders in the field of laser lead extraction for removal of chronic pacemaker and defibrillator leads. His expertise in the laser extraction of chronic pacing and defibrillating leads is unique and he has brought this technology to Mount Sinai Heart where he has already performed a number of cases effectively and safely in both adults and children.
Dr. Fischer has a keen interest in implantable device therapy and performs a variety of implants, including pacemakers, defibrillators and bi-ventricular devices and has a particular interest in cardiac resynchronization therapy for patients with advanced congestive heart failure. In conjunction with Dr. Lane Duvall, from the echocardiography laboratory, he has established a clinic specifically for optimization of cardiac resynchronization devices using state-of-the-art 3D echo technology. In addition to his interest in device therapy, he performs ablations for patients with a variety of arrhythmias. Dr. Fischer is skilled in catheter ablation of complex supraventricular arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, as well as ventricular tachyarrhythmias.
Dr. Fischer is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Cardiac Electrophysiology, is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the Heart Rhythm Society.
