Dr. Eliasoph trained in general surgery and then served in the United States Navy, mostly on sea duty as Medical officer on Navy transport ships. He took the full academic year of Postgraduate Ophthalmology at NYU-Postgraduate Medical School and then the clinical residency in Ophthalmic Surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital. He practices comprehensive ophthalmology with emphasis on ocular plastic procedures. These include cosmetic eyelid and brow procedures, correction of ptosis (drooping lids), with long experience in the eye problems of Myasthenia Gravis. He serves as Chief of Eye Plastic Surgery at the Bronx Veterans Hospital. Dr. Eliasoph is Chief of Ophthalmology at the sister institution, The Jewish Home and Hospital, where he does corrective surgery on many eyelid problems of the very old. He has managed dry eye problems and tearing problems over many years. He has developed new operations and refined the technique of others. He has designed new surgical instruments for ophthalmic surgery.
