Peter M. Som, MD is a Professor of Radiology and Otolaryngology and the Director of Head and Neck Radiology at Mount Sinai. After receiving his Medical Degree from the New York University School of Medicine, he completed his Medical Internship and Residency in Radiology at The Mount Sinai Hospital.

Dr. Som is the author of several books including his two volume text entitled Head and Neck Imaging which is considered by many to be the world's most authoritative text on the subject. He is also the author of over 300 articles. Dr. Som is a founding member and past president of the American Society of Head and Neck Radiology.

There is a close working, reciprocal relationship between the otolaryngology clinicians and the radiology department. The Otolaryngology Residents receive individual, intensive, daily instruction in head and neck imaging by spending monthly rotations with Dr. Som.
