Dr. Banc received her B.S. from SUNY Stony Brook and her M.D. from New York University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Connecticut in Farmington. In July 1996, Dr. Banc began a two-year fellowship in Geriatrics at Mount Sinai, and in 1998 was appointed a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Brookdale Department of Geriatrics and Adult Development. During her fellowship, Dr. Banc became particularly interested in palliative care, becoming actively involved in the Lilian and Benjamin Hertzberg Palliative Care Institute. In December 2000, Dr. Banc was appointed Director of Palliative Care at the Geriatric Education, Research, and Clinical Center (GRECC) of the Bronx Veterans Affairs Medical Center, an affiliate of Mount Sinai. Dr. Banc is presently building a curriculum in palliative care for students, fellows and residents at the Bronx VA.
