Prior to its closure in 2007, the NRC treated over 30,000 heroin users, serving as a model multidisciplinary treatment program for the State of New York. Nationally and internationally known for his treatment and study of heroin dependency, Dr. Stimmel has served on the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy Committee of Physicians for National Drug Control Strategy.
Dr. Stimmel is the author of 7 books, numerous book chapters, and over 200 scientific papers. He is the founding editor of the quarterly, peer-reviewed Journal of Addictive Diseases.
