Dr. Daniel Schwartz received his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 1985 and graduated cum laude with Honors in Biology.  He completed his medical training at SUNY- Downstate Medical Center in 1989 with Honors in Surgery & Medicine.  He completed his general surgery training at Montefiore Medical Center/ Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1994.  He then did a two year cardiothoracic research fellowship at New York University School of Medicine studying minimally invasive methods of heart/lung bypass surgery and went on to complete his residency in cardiothoracic surgery 1998.  He joined the University of Southern California as assistant professor of cardiothoracic surgery from 1998-2004.  He then did a thoracic surgical oncology fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles in 2005.  He moved to New York and joined the North Shore Medical Group of Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 2007 and was appointed the Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Huntington Hospital in 2008.  He was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai in 2008, and his clinical interests include thoracic oncology and complex thoracic surgical problems.
