Dr. Michael Bronson came to Mount Sinai in 2004 as an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery, and Co-Director of the Joint Replacement Service. He received his M.D. from New York Medical College, and completed his surgical internship and orthopedic residency at Lenox Hill Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital. He was the Senior Annie C. Kane Fellow in hip and knee surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center under the training of Dr. Frank Stinchfield and Dr. Nas Eftekhar. He then joined the faculty at Lenox Hill Hospital where he remained for 23 years before coming to Mount Sinai.

His practice centers on problems of the hip and knee in all age groups from athletic injuries in younger patients and degenerative arthritic disease and joint replacement in the older population. Dr. Bronson has developed the Vision Total Hip, a widely recognized and used total hip replacement system which has been in use extensively for the past 10 years which avoids the use of cement in all age groups, substantially prolonging the lifespan of the replacement, even in young, active and athletic patients. In addition, he has done extensive work in developing new surgical instruments for minimally invasive unicondylar partial knee replacement which has revolutionized the treatment of knee arthritis in the 30 percent  to 40 percent of patients whose knee arthritis involves only a part of their knee. Dr. Bronson has consistently been named one of New York's top orthopedic surgeons in Castle and Connolly's Guide to the top medical care in the city, as well as receiving numerous teaching awards.

Dr. Bronson's specialties and sub-specialties include orthopedic surgery, hip surgery, knee surgery, arthroscopy, total joint replacement.
