He is a member of other national and international education and research organizations and has lectured in the U.S. and abroad.

Dr. Hausman's interests and expertise include problems of the hand, elbow and shoulder due to congenital birth defects, nerve injury, trauma, tumors, severe infections, arthritis and overuse. He has pioneered methods of biological reconstruction of bone, tendon and muscle using the body's own tissue rather than metal and plastic prosheses or cadaver bone because of the improved durability and functionality of such procedures. He also performs minimally invasive microvascular surgery, utilizing endoscopic techniques, to minimize incisions and the discomfort of surgery.
