Dr. Joel Forman is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Community and Preventive Medicine. He also serves as Pediatric Residency Program Director and Vice-Chair for Education.

He began his training at the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington, VT, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Society and received the New England Pediatric Society Prize. Dr. Forman then served as Pediatric intern, resident and chief resident at Mount Sinai Hospital where he received the Association of Attending Staff/ Bella Trachtenberg Award for House Staff Excellence.

Subsequently, he joined the general pediatrics faculty at Mount Sinai. Dr. Forman served as Assistant Pediatric Residency Program Director from 1996-2002. In 2002, he took over as Pediatric Residency Program Director and Vice-Chair for Education. He and Dr. Philip J. Landrigan worked together to create a Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit (PEHSU) at Mount Sinai. Dr. Forman is currently a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Environmental Health and a member of the CDC Lead in Pregnancy Workgroup.
