Physicians in the Irving J. Selikoff Center for Occupational and Environmental Medicine see workers with diseases of occupational origin, including repetitive stress injuries, occupational lung diseases, lead and other heavy metal poisonings, and work-related cancer. The Center also conducts workplace evaluations, advising employers, unions, and workers on how to eliminate job hazards at the source. Social workers are available to help employees obtain worker’s compensation and other benefits and to offer assistance with social, psychological, and financial problems caused by work-related health problems. Children can also be evaluated for diseases of environmental origin and exposure to environmental toxins.
