Allergy and Clinical Immunology

What's New in Treatment of Immune Disorders?

Our immunologists remain on the cutting edge of research. They have participated in the study of new treatments for many conditions including Crohn’s Disease and rheumatoid arthritis. Right now, they are investigating the root causes of primary immune deficiency disease, inflammatory bowel disease, food hypersensitivity, food-related anaphylaxis, and allergic dermatitis.

Members of the AI-FPA are also developing new strategies for treating food allergies, including working with recombinant protein engineering and plasmid DNA.

Two other areas of strong interest are the variety of disorders related to gastrointestinal hypersensitivity, and the development of new approaches to the treatment of diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and osteoarthritis. Research is ongoing at the Mount Sinai Medical Center.
