Graduate Medical Education

The Mount Sinai School of Medicine Consortium for Graduate Medical Education, consisting of 13 institutions located in New York and New Jersey, sponsors more than 140 residency programs in virtually every specialty of medicine, enrolling in the aggregate more than 2,000 house staff. Consortium educational activities provided to all house staff, regardless of home institution or specialty.

Program Overview

The Mount Sinai Urology Residency Program accepts three residents per year for one year of General Surgery and four years of Urology. The training program is designed to allow residents to obtain knowledge and proficiency both in making clinical assessments and in developing the technical endoscopic, laparoscopic and surgical skills for the treatment of patients with urologic conditions. Education and training experience are gained through rotations at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, Bronx VA Medical Center, Elmhurst Hospital Center, Queens Hospital Center, North General Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. In this educational environment, graduating residents are then in a position to pursue a career in academics or private practice. Approximately 50 percent of graduating residents have pursued fellowship training in a subspecialty area and obtained faculty positions in academic medical centers.
