Graduate Medical Education

The Mount Sinai School of Medicine Consortium for Graduate Medical Education, consisting of 13 institutions located in New York and New Jersey, sponsors more than 140 residency programs in virtually every specialty of medicine, enrolling in the aggregate more than 2,000 house staff. Consortium educational activities provided to all house staff, regardless of home institution or specialty.

Program Overview

Two-year research fellowships in rehabilitation research are available for newly graduated psychologists within the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. The number of fellowships awarded each year is dependent on grant funding availability. Training combines 80% time in research activities within the Department's Research and Training Center and 20% time in clinical experiences with individuals with brain injury. Fellows are involved in ongoing research activities of the Center, participate in research training seminars on qualitative and evidence based methodologies, statistical programming and grant writing, and attend weekly planning/administrative meeting of the Center. Under mentoring, each fellow completes an independent research project, presents findings at conferences for professionals and prepares findings for publication. At minimum, two hours of individual supervision is provided weekly. The fellowship meets requirements of the American Boards of Clinical Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation Psychology as well as state licensure.
