Program Overview

The mission of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Mount Sinai School of Medicine is threefold: 1) to offer excellent clinical service across a wide range of therapeutic modalities and treatment settings; 2) to provide innovative and diversified training programs in the forefront of psychiatric and psychological practice; and 3) to conduct high quality research focused on the empirical basis of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry/Psychology, as well as response to treatment.

The Division is located at The Mount Sinai Medical Center campus in upper Manhattan and has access to all of the resources of the medical center. We offer a variety of outstanding clinical services, all of which are on-site. The Division maintains a close affiliation with an active and productive Medical School and Department of Psychiatry, which affords many clinical, educational and research opportunities. In addition, the Division's strong record of collaboration with the Department of Pediatrics in clinical and training ventures provides a stimulating medical atmosphere in which to train new Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists.

Over recent years the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry has developed from a predominantly clinical service to a major academic program. With the continuing growth of these endeavors, this is an exciting time for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Mount Sinai. We are especially proud of our record in the development and operation of outstanding, innovative training programs in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and are excited about the research contributions we are making to the rapidly expanding knowledge base in our field.

As a trainee in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, one will have an opportunity to become part of a vibrant program, rich with varied training experiences, yet intimate in size. We can provide a highly personalized approach to training while also possessing resources usually only available at much larger programs. Significantly, it is a program that is responsive to the varied and complex demands facing child and adolescent psychiatrists in this era of rapid change.
