The Mount Sinai School of Medicine Consortium for Graduate Medical Education, consisting of 13 institutions located in New York and New Jersey, sponsors more than 140 residency programs in virtually every specialty of medicine, enrolling in the aggregate more than 2,000 house staff. Consortium educational activities provided to all house staff, regardless of home institution or specialty.

Program Overview

This one year ACGME-accredited fellowship takes place at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan and at the Bronx Veterans Affairs Medical Center in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx.

The fellow will participate in the diagnosis and treatment of all substance use and induced disorders in diverse settings. S/he will also receive didactic education in current biological, psychological, and social theories of addiction and will develop expertise in pharmacological treatment using buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, acamprosate, disulfiram, and other treatment options. Advanced clinical training takes place in specialized inpatient and outpatient settings at Mount Sinai and the Bronx VA. Fellows also receive experience in methadone maintenance and consultation-liaison addiction activities, including Mount Sinai's Transplantation Institute, one of the nation's largest such programs. The fellowship will provide opportunities for teaching and supervision of psychiatry residents and medical students.
