The Pediatric Pulmonary Center is one of eight such federally-funded programs in the United States and the only one in the New York area. It is designed to improve and promote community-based care for children with respiratory disease and to train health care professionals.

The Cystic Fibrosis Center provides comprehensive care for patients with cystic fibrosis. The Cystic Fibrosis Center works in close collaboration with the Division of Medical and Molecular Genetics. Mount Sinai is one of the few medical centers in the country to offer prenatal testing and genetic counseling for cystic fibrosis.

The Apnea Center includes studies on asthma, lung development, nutrition in cystic fibrosis patients, and the pulmonary complications of AIDS.

Special services in the Division of Pediatric Pulmonary and Critical Care include the Pediatric Pulmonary Function Laboratory and Fiberoptic Bronchoscopy.
