The Mount Sinai School of Medicine Consortium for Graduate Medical Education, consisting of 13 institutions located in New York and New Jersey, sponsors more than 140 residency programs in virtually every specialty of medicine, enrolling in the aggregate more than 2,000 house staff. Consortium educational activities provided to all house staff, regardless of home institution or specialty.

Program Overview

One year fellowship in Laryngology and Voice Care with Dr. Ken Altman and Dr. Peak Woo, focusing on all aspects of medical and surgical laryngology practice, as well as some basic science and clinical research. Training emphasizes appreciation of the multifactorial contributions to laryngeal disease, as well as a wide spectrum of interdisciplinary treatment strategies. Conditions frequently encountered include vocal paralysis/paresis, laryngopharyngeal reflux, laryngotracheal stenosis, benign and malignant neoplasms including papilloma, laryngeal dystonia/spasmodic dysphonia and many other conditions. Routine office-based procedures include laryngeal EMG, botox, pulsed dye laser, injection laryngoplasty and trans nasal esophagoscopy. Applicants should be board eligible/certified in Otolaryngology, as well as eligible for a New York State medical license.
