Program Overview

The mission of the Mount Sinai Foot and Ankle fellowship is to educate the fellow in the diagnosis and management of post traumatic, degenerative, and metabolic disorders of the foot and ankle. This includes both nonsurgical and surgical management of degenerative and inflammatory arthritides, diabetic foot deformities, and congenital abnormalities. Fellows are exposed to joint replacement of the ankle, fracture fixation, correction of severe forefoot, hindfoot and ankle deformities using both internal and external fixation, as well as management of these deformities using orthotic and prosthetic devices. Upon completion of the fellowship, the surgeon should be able to diagnose and formulate a treatment plan for a multitude of diseases and deformities of the lower extremity. Fellows are expected to participate in basic science and clinical research projects and publish the results of this research.

Applicants must be board-eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery and have completed an accredited residency in Orthopaedic Surgery.
