Housing
The Mount Sinai Hospital owns and operates a dozen apartment buildings in the vicinity of the Hospital. All incoming residents are guaranteed housing by the Hospital. The type of housing depends on whether the potential occupant is single, married, and/or has children. Apartments range in size from studios to two bedrooms. Rents are considerably less than market value and are subsidized by the Hospital. Several of the buildings have underground parking facilities, in addition to the Hospital’s own parking garage, for which there is an additional charge.
Salary and Benefits
Stipends for residents and fellows are established annually and are similar to those provided by other medical centers in the New York metropolitan area. The current stipend level will be quoted on request. The Department supplies each resident with a generous book allowance. Each resident has four weeks of vacation per year and is provided with an attractive fringe benefits package.

Recreation
New York City is the cultural capital of the world. The Hospital itself is located on "Museum Mile," a 20-block stretch along Fifth Avenue where many of New York’s best and most famous museums are located; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of the City of New York, the Jewish Museum, the National Academy of Design, and the Cooper-Hewitt Museum are all within a mile of the Hospital. The Hospital runs a Recreation Office where tickets for Broadway shows, sporting events, and trips can be obtained at a considerable discount. The neighborhood’s greatest resource, though, is Central Park; the Hospital overlooks the park, with its many acres of fields, trails, jogging paths, woods, and ponds available for us to enjoy.
