The mission of the Ob-Gyn Clerkship is to see that all medical students acquire the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes that physicians practicing in the 21st century must have to provide the best in women's health care.

The goals of students in the Ob-Gyn Clerkship are to:

• Learn the content outlined in the 6 ACGME (Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education) core objectives
• Enhance their medical education by learning about the general and unique features of obstetric, gynecologic, and primary and preventive care of women's health
• Become acquainted with the variety of types of practice, both general and sub specialized, available to obstetricians and gynecologists.
• Learn and have fun

The goals of faculty and housestaff in the Ob-Gyn Clerkship are to:

• Support medical education
• Focus on the 6 ACGME core objectives and convey information and skills to students in a stimulating and interactive manner
• Enhance general medical education with broad exposure to women's health issues and introduce students to the unique aspects of the specialty of obstetrics and gynecology and its several subspecialties.
• Teach, learn and have fun

The structure of the clerkship is divided into clinical and didactic experiences. Clinical experiences in obstetrics occur on the labor and delivery unit and the ambulatory clinics of housestaff and attendings. Clinical experiences in gynecology occur on the inpatient unit and the operating rooms as well as the ambulatory clinics of housestaff and attendings. Didactic experiences are composed of daily rounds, seminars, and preceptor sessions.

1. Demonstration of proper professional conduct.
2. Evaluations from housestaff, attendings, and preceptor attesting to fulfillment of clinical, educational, and professional duties
3. Oral case presentation of either obstetric or gynecologic patient to preceptor with primary literature and evidence-based data.
4. One written patient case presentation (different from oral presentation) to clerkship director with primary literature and evidence-based data.
5. Submission of verified Ob-Gyn clinical skills certification card.
6. Completion of Part II NBME subject examination (score >= 59, percentile >= 5%).
7. Submission of completed patient log (Diagnosis Tracker) (on e-valueR).
