Extracurriculars

Our residents and faculty find many ways to apply their emergency medicine skills outside of the ED. International opportunities are described above. Residents and faculty also provide medical assistance at the New York Mets home games (in exchange for free tickets in great seats), at area rugby games, and at the New York Marathon. Dr. Lars Beattie has started a clinic at Elmhurst Hospital for victims of torture in other countries who seek asylum here; residents and faculty are trained to provide documentation of physical injuries. Several faculty members provide airway assistance to the New York Jets players at home games. Dr. Andy Jagoda recently accompanied the New York Philharmonic on its historic visit to North Korea.
