Critical Care

Lead by the Division of Emergency Critical Care, the Emergency Departments at Mount Sinai and Elmhurst Hospitals take an advanced, comprehensive approach to the evaluation and management of critically ill patients. Both sites provide early goal-directed therapy for sepsis, induced hypothermia after cardiac arrest, and advanced thermodynamic monitoring. As residents develop their critical care skills they progress from learners to leaders of resuscitations.

Division faculty and national leaders in emergency critical care provide monthly lectures on ED critical care topics. Every year we hold the NYC ED Critical Care Conference which is attended by over 400 residents. The division also offers a Senior Specialty Track on resuscitation, which includes advanced airway management, critical trauma care, and ICU level monitoring and therapies.
