General Information

The Mount Sinai Department of Emergency Medicine has full, independent department status in both the medical school and the hospital.

In December of 2004 we were awarded full accreditation for 8 years, until 2012.

Academic funding—$1000 per resident over the course of their residency for for books, conferences and other relevant expenses. The department covers expenses for regional and national meetings when residents present or sit on committees. Memberships to SAEM, ACEP, AAEM are paid for by the department.

Discounts through the Recreation Office

Housing

The Mount Sinai Medical Center owns several buildings near the hospital with partially subsidized apartments for the use of house officers and their families.

Transportation

Mount Sinai operates a free shuttle bus throughout the day between the two training sites. There is also garage parking at both sites. Subway fare, parking, and other transport fees can come out of pre-taxed salary.
