Dr. Okuda received his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed his emergency medicine residency at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine as Chief Resident. He is Assistant Professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Medical Education and Director of Simulation for the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Nationally, he serves as Co-Chair of the Emergency Medicine Special Interest Group for the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and involved as a reviewer for MedEdPortal, Academic Emergency Medicine, and the International Journal of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Okuda has been actively involved with medical education at Mount Sinai with curricular innovations such as the Emergency Anatomy series for the Gross Anatomy course as well as incorporating High Fidelity Patient Simulation into the Surgical and Emergency Medicine clerkships. His research interests include the use of simulation in medical errors and assessment and is published in areas related to the use of simulation in education. Dr. Okuda was recognized for his teaching nationally by the Emergency Medicine Residents Association and received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Institute of Medical Education in 2007.

Research
Dr. Okuda's research interests include the use of simulation for medical student and resident assessment as well as for patient safety and reduction of errors. His current projects includes: The use of high fidelity simulation for training of fourth year medical students in ACLS algorithms, Deliberate practice to improve ACLS training and critical care, Simulation for training alarm recognition, Part task simulator for procedural training, Simulation in training acute geriatric emergencies, and Using simulation for teamwork training for medical students.
