Eligibility Criteria

Eligible individuals (see Selection Criteria below) are those who have graduated with a baccalaureate degree in a biomedically relevant science, from an accredited U.S. college or university, no more than 36 months prior to applying to a PREP, and are not currently enrolled in a graduate degree program or have completed a graduate degree. Eligible individuals must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S.

  • All official transcripts
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Standardized test score reports (if available)

Selection Criteria

Underrepresented minority, disabled, or disadvantaged students who have earned their Baccalaureate degree and have a keen interest in entering a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. program are encouraged to apply to this dynamic preparatory program. We are particularly interested in individuals who aspire to pursue research careers as Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. scientists.  In reviewing a candidate's application, we consider a variety of criteria that demonstrate whether the candidate exhibits potential and motivation towards research with the expectation to matriculate in a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. program.

  • Letters of recommendation
  • Interviews
  • Research experience and/or evidence of strong research motivation
  • Standardized test score reports, if available (e.g. GRE, MCAT, SAT, ACT)
  • GPA trend during the undergraduate years
