Students who have a keen interest in preparing for entry into an MD or M.D./Ph.D. program are encouraged to apply. A minimum GPA of 3.45 is desirable for admission to this track. In reviewing a candidate's application, we consider a variety of criteria that demonstrate whether the candidate exhibits potential for acceptance to medical school.
Admission is based on the applicant's academic records, prior MCAT scores, research experience, letters of recommendation, personal statement regarding ultimate career plans, and interviews with Mount Sinai faculty and the Program Director. Application deadline is June 1, although application review will begin on April 15.
Tuition for PREP-Med is $24,000 per year (2009-2010 rate) for one-and-a-half years. Students may continue in the program for an additional six months to complete research projects without paying additional tuition. All students will have full access to Mount Sinai’s financial aid office for assistance in identifying and obtaining loans.
